SOME 20+ YEARS AGO I WENT INTO THE RAY CATENA MERCEDES DEALERSHIP WHEN IT WAS LOCATED ON ROUTE 1 IN EDISON TO BUY A MERCEDES, AS SOON AS I INQUIRED WHAT KIND OF DISCOUNT THEY GAVE OFF THE M.S.R.P. TO WHICH THE SALES *** REPLIED, "WE DON'T DISCOUNT OUR CARS", NEEDLESS TO SAY I WENT TO ANOTHER RAY CATENA DEALERSHIP AND HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR THE PAST 20+ YEARS.

DURING THE PAST MONTH I HAVE BEEN LOOKING TO BUY A NEW AUDI AND I THOUGHT I'D GIVE RAY CATENA AUDI IN FREEHOLD A CHANCE THINKING THAT THE BUSINESS ACCUMEN MIGHT HAVE IMPROVED IN THE PAST 20 YEARS, NOT A CHANCE. AT THE VERY BEGINNING I TOLD THE SALESMAN I DEALT WITH WHAT I WANTED FOR MY TRADE-IN, THIS WAS IN THE FIRST TELEPHONE CONVERSATION I HAD WITH HIM. I WAS ALSO CONTACTED BY ANOTHER SALESPERSON FROM THE SAME DEALERSHIP, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I WOUND-UP WANTING TO BUY A SIMILAR CAR THAN THE FIRST CAR I INQUIRED ABOUT, AFTER GOING THRU ALL THE E-MAILS THEY SENT TO ME THEY WANTED TO SELL ME A CAR THAT LISTED FOR ABOUT $500 LESS FOR $700 MORE THAN WHAT THE SALESMAN AND I AGREED ON REGARDING THE FIRST CAR, AT WHICH POINT HE HAD TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERS SALES MANAGER WHO WOULD NOT AGREE TO THE PRICE I PROPOSED. TO ME THIS IS "PRICE GOUGING" AND I SAVED ALL THE EMAILS AS WELL AS THE PRICE PRINT OUTS THAT MADE UP THE "DEAL" WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN, MY POINT HERE BEING IS THAT THE SALES MANAGER MAY BUT PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THE PRICING THAT THEY GAVE ME ON THE FINAL CAR WAS $500 MORE THAN THE FIRST CAR WHICH LISTED FOR ABOUT $700 MORE THAN THE FIRST CAR I WAS INTERESTED IN.

LASTLY, RAY CATENA CHARGES A "DOCUMENTATION FEE" OF $499 WHICH IS A BLATANT "RIPOFF" AS THIS IS A FEE THEY ARBITRARILY

CHARGE, THE FACT BEING THERE IS NO "DOCUMENTATION FEE" AS THERE IS NOTHING TO DOCUMENT.

IT CAN'T BE FOR MOTOR VEHICLE OR REGISTRATION FEES AS THAT IS ALSO CHARGED TO THE CUSTOMER, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS RAY CATENA DEALERSHIP IS OUT TO GET AS MUCH MONEY OUT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AS POSSIBLE. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF CAR YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUY, DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM RAY CATENA AS IN MY EXPERIENCE AND OPINION THEY ARE A TRULY "BOTTOM OF THE BUCKET SLEAZY DEALER"
